NEEDHAM - It all started out as a joke for Charlie Gordon.
A longtime soccer player, Gordon’s teammates at St. Sebastian’s School in Needham used to rib him about his potential as a placekicker, suggesting football might be a better fit.
“At first, it was kind of a joke,” said Gordon, now a senior at St. Sebastian’s. “They were like, ‘You should try kicking. You’d be good at it,’ because I had a strong leg in soccer. And then I started thinking about it, and it got a little more serious.”
