Ryan Moore claimed a share of the clubhouse lead with 18-hole leaders Patrick Reed and Scotland's Martin Laird at 5 under after firing a 3-under-par 68 Friday morning at The Barclays at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y.
The world No. 50 was 4-under on his first nine holes with four birdies before a bogey on No. 11. Moore briefly held solo first at 6-under after birdieing No. 14, but bogeyed No. 17 to drop back into a tie for the lead.
Moore is a once decorated amateur who won the 2004 NCAA Individual Championship and the 2005 Ben Hogan Award while at UNLV before claiming the 2004 U.S. Amateur. The 33-year-old has five victories on the PGA Tour.
