BOSTON - Pablo Sandoval dropped to the ground after taking a pitch off his left knee with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, and the Boston Red Sox third baseman was forced to leave Tuesday night's game against the Texas Rangers.
The pitch that hit Sandoval was a 94-mile-per-hour fastball on a 1-1 count from Rangers left-handed pitcher Sam Freeman. Utility man Brock Holt was summoned off the bench to pinch run for Sandoval.
Sandoval was 1-for-3 at the plate before being forced out of the game.
